EATING DISORDER THERAPY

My background

I am very passionate about helping adolescents and adults understand and recover from their eating disorders. I have experience in working with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Orthorexia, and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED). Some of my previous employment includes years of working at an eating disorder treatment facility as a primary therapist on a multi-disciplinary team where I learned and trained in the treatment of eating disorders for teens and adults both in residential and partial-outpatient settings.

Philosophy + approach

The beauty, diet, and wellness industries make trillions of dollars based on insecurities that are developed from impossible societal standards. I believe so much of body image work is taking the power back and redefining self-worth. I use a Health at Every Size (HAES) approach which means I believe that body size does not determine someone’s health status. This also means I believe in body neutrality and liberation for all body types and sizes.

Additionally, I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor™. Intuitive eating is an approach that helps clients build trust with their body, learn to identify what their body needs, and guides them in unlearning unhealthy habits.

Professional growth

I highly value growth and am committed to continually educating myself through books, podcasts, and trainings. I make it an intentional goal to keep up on peer-reviewed research and evidence-based interventions when it comes to nutrition, body image work, and eating disorder data.
