Eating disorder counseling…
… can be scary to pursue. Maybe one side of you is desperate for something to change while the other part of you is displeased to be on this website at all. Maybe reaching out to an ED therapist feels like a betrayal to the “hard work” the disordered side of you has “accomplished”. Maybe you’re sick of the ever-changing goal never being good enough once it’s been reached. Maybe you’re miserable but so few know it. Maybe you’ve been struggling after some time in your recovery and you know it’s time for a tune-up. Maybe you’re tired of lying awake at night overcome with shame about food, exercise, your body, or your productivity level. Maybe you’re curious about what’s on the other side of the stuck cycle you can’t seem to pull yourself out of.
OCD Counseling….
…is a place where my clients feel seen and understood. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder doesn’t always look like washing your hands hundreds of times a day or Cloroxing your kitchen. While contamination OCD is a common type of OCD, there are so many other forms that are less obvious to others around us. OCD starts with a trigger that leads to a distressing emotion which then leads to a compulsion. Clients who come to me for help with OCD sometimes don’t have outward compulsions. They suffer in their mind overthinking and mental checking over and over. Sometimes my clients’ triggers are intrusive, unwanted thoughts that bring intense distress to them. With the power of I-CBT and ERP, I help my clients better understand their OCD and ultimately reduce the distressing symptoms altogether.
